Leaf Wetness Update (January 24, 2018)
Rainfall on 9 January was followed by three to four days with extended periods of leaf wetness (Table 1). Wetness periods exceeded 10 hours per day on 10-12 January at the North Gila, YAC and South valley monitoring sites. A fourth day with greater than 10 hours of wetness was observed at Roll on 13 January. Minimum temperatures measured at produce height (1’ above the surface) remained above freezing until early this week. The passage of a dry cold front this past weekend resulted in two mornings with sub-freezing temperatures at all monitoring sites (Table 1). Growers and PCAs can monitor data from the leaf wetness network through the AZMET website located at the following URL: https://ag.arizona.edu/azmet
Click on the button labeled Crop Reports, then click on the button labeled Yuma Leaf Wetness Network. Access to Network data may also be achieved by entering the following numeric URL address: http://128.196.12.122:460/
