For Stewards
Volunteer Spotlight

In March 2008, 29 Stewards graduated from the Master Watershed Steward class in Tucson to begin their work as watershed stewards! Throughout the course however, Stewards participated in a variety of projects within the Santa Cruz Watershed. This spring several Stewards began a project at Sabino Canyon in the Coronado National Forest to remove Arundo donax from the riparian areas. Arundo is in the giant reed family and is considered an invasive plant that has been found in Sabino Creek and along other streams throughout Arizona.
Each graduating Steward in the Tucson class was asked to prepare a 'final thought' that reflected the most important idea learned in class or the message all Arizonians should know and understand. Click here to read some of these final thoughts - they are impressive! *Final Thoughts by Stewards pdf
