Due to species composition differences across the continent, each participant must use a unique broadcast sequence that matchs the species thought to occur in their area. Broadcast sequences can be obtained as a CD or MP3 from the program coordinator. Click here to download species range maps to determine which species occur in your area. A list of recommended broadcast sequences for each National Wildlife Refuge in the lower 48 states can be downloaded here:

List of Broadcast Sequences for NWRs

Qualified surveyors can obtain broadcast CDs or MP3 files by emailing a request to the program coordinator. Email requests should include the following information.

  • A mailing address
  • A contact name and phone number
  • The location where you intend to conduct surveys
  • The list of marsh bird species you would like included on your broadcast CD (see list of potential species in the national protocols).

Surveyors should use a standardized CD or MP3 file obtained from the program coordinator so that broadcasts are standardized among participants to the extent possible.
