A belated congratulations to Sharon Hoelscher Day, Agent, Family Consumer Health Sciences, Maricopa County, who, with the support of the department of Nutritional Sciences, received an appointment as Regional Specialist in the Department of Nutritional Sciences (effective on April 6). In addition, she will continue her duties as Area Agent serving Maricopa, Gila and Pinal counties.
ACDI/VOCA, a nonprofit international development organization, is looking for mid-to-late career professionals from agriculture and Extension who would be interested in short-term (2-4 weeks) volunteer opportunities in developing countries and emerging markets. In addition, they are seeking senior level graduate students for a very limited number of long term volunteer assignments (2-6 months). New projects are currently being implemented in Ghana, Lebanon and Egypt where there are ongoing needs for Ag and Extension professionals in the following areas: agronomy, crop and soil science, association and cooperative development, small ruminant livestock, ag engineering, horticulture, food processing, and marketing. There is occasional need for volunteers in many other ACDI/VOCA field projects as well. ACDI/VOCA covers travel and living expenses plus makes the arrangements for all volunteers.
