Kirk A. Astroth has been invited to speak at the annual conference of the National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils meeting in Albuquerque, NM, June 14-17. The theme of the conference is "Partnerships Delivering Change in America's Communities." Education programs for young people is a growing area of activity for RC&D councils. Kirk has been asked to talk about 4-H efforts nationally and regionally to connect young people with the outdoors and how RD&C councils locally might better connect with 4-H in communities. All expenses will be paid by the NARC&DC.
Over 35 people attended the All-Associations meeting in Globe last week. The meeting was informative, educational and stressed the need for people to work across disciplines to create synergy within Extension. The meeting was planned and facilitated by Kai Umeda, Sharon Hoelscher Day, Jeff Schalau and Mike Hauser. Also instrumental to the meeting's success where Sabrina Tuttle, Celestina Fasthorse, and Chris Jones who facilitated local arrangements and a tour. Dean Fish and Erin Taylor kept everyone happy and healthy arranging for food and beverages. Summer Waters and Mike Hauser took care of getting everyone registered. Congratulations to all on a successful meeting!
The Extension Web Policy (cals.arizona.edu/extension/employee/pandp/chap7.html#7030302) has been updated in the online Policies and Procedures Manual. Changes include the updated UA disclaimer language and policy regarding new Extension sites using the Drupal content management system. Leslie Lutey has been working in UA Extension for over 43 years (9 in the Maricopa office and over 34 in the Prescott office) and is retiring at the end of June. She has been a great asset to all who have worked, volunteered, and entered our doors looking for answers. The Prescott office is hosting a grand send off Western Barbeque retirement party on Saturday, June 13 at 2:00pm at Mackin Building (across the driveway from the Prescott office).
