Pima County

Pima County adjoins the border with Mexico. Its economy and cultural and natural heritage are greatly affected by this proximity. Despite the importance of border issues, very few miles of borderland are actually under its land use jurisdiction. Pima County's land use jurisdiction is primarily located at and near two ports of entry (Sasabe and Lukeville). More broadly, Pima County is encouraging cultural heritage tourism through efforts with Santa Cruz County to create a National Heriage Area centered on the Santa Cruz watershed. Pima County also encourages cultural heritage tourism in the town of Ajo, Arizona. Pima County has the capacity to enter into agreements to provide technical services, including graphic design, geographic information, cultural resources, biologic, hydrologic, environmental education and other services.
