Arizona History Trunk

This teaching tool provides comparisons of water technologies found in Arizona now and in the previous century. Historic photos provide a window into past water-related practices. This is a dynamic preface to discussions about social change, water conservation and the impacts of technology on daily life.

Ground Water Flow Model

This three dimensional model composed of layers of sediment represents an aquifer and features pumping, injection and testing wells, surface water bodies and artesian wells. This learning tool demonstrates the flow of ground water and how it is impacted by gravity, earth materials, and pumping. It also illustrates surface water-to-ground water connection.

Watershed Model

We all live in a watershed where sediment and pollutants are carried by runoff (water running over the land). This model demonstrates how water flows over the land moving from high to low elevation in a watershed.

Incredible Jourey Kit

This kit includes everything needed to teach students about the incredible journey that water molecules travel through the water cycle. Students visit nine stations as they mark their own Water Journey Map and create a colorful keepsake bracelet.

Enviroscape Watershed Educational Tool

This model is a hands-on tool that connects what we do on land to what happens in our rivers, lakes, arroyos, and even in our ground water. Various themed Enviroscapes are available i.e. wastewater treatment, non-point source pollution, point source pollution, etc.

Macroinvertebrate Investigation Kit

This kit allows students to investigate the presence and type of macroinvertebrate, thus assessing the health of a waterway.

Healthy Water Healthy People Water Quality Test Kits

Rivers, Streams, Ponds and Lakes:  This kit allows students to test water for basic parameters (temperature, pH, conductivity, total dissolved solids and turbidity) as well as conduct colorimetric tests or titrations to detect alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, nitrates and phosphates.

Classroom Drinking Water: This kit allows students to test water for alkalinity, chlorine, copper, hardness, iron, microbiology nitrate and pH.

Advanced Water Quality: This kit allows students to conduct advanced tests such as BOD, choloform bacteria, etc.
