  CROP DOCTOR

The Crop Doctor is an informative, entertaining classroom experience. It is designed to assist educators in teaching Arizona agriculture, and is provided FREE of charge to Arizona's elementary school teachers. Based on a proven curriculum, it blends science, social studies and language arts into a seven-lesson plan. The focus is on Arizona food and fiber production.

The program can include an actual visit to your classroom by a Crop Doctor. The Crop Doctor, also referred to as a Pest Control Advisor or PCA, is a highly trained, agricultural specialist. Each is licensed by the State of Arizona to work with farmers, prescribing treatments in such areas as pest control, weed control, disease control and fertilization.

The following is provided:

  • Seven individual lesson plans, complete with outline text for educators. (Link)
  • Guest appearance (optional and subject to availability) of a Crop Doctor. A slide/video presentation about life on the farm will be shown. Actual tools used in the field will be demonstrated and students will be encouraged to interact with questions.
  • Helpful tips for the educator in consolidating the program to the amount of time available.
  • Two activity sheets with answers

Material is suitable for inclusion in your school's resource library for repeated use.
